A Day of Quiet Confidence and Trust in the Waiting
“But they rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.” – Luke 23:56b (KJV)
Holy Saturday is not often spoken of in grand terms. It is not the celebration of Palm Sunday, the sorrow of Good Friday, or the glory of Resurrection Sunday. It is the silence between suffering and triumph… the waiting between pain and promise.
And yet, Holy Saturday holds a sacred space. It teaches us the power of trusting God in the in-between.
Though Scripture is quiet about the details of that Saturday, it speaks volumes through the hearts of those who waited. Imagine the sorrow Mary carried. Imagine the silence in the upper room. Imagine the weight of confusion and grief. And yet, they rested. Not because they understood, but because they trusted God’s command to honor the Sabbath—even in pain.
“And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.” – Luke 23:56 (KJV)
There is holy strength in resting when the heart wants to act. There is faith in choosing stillness when your soul longs for answers. Holy Saturday reminds us: God is still God in the waiting. What feels like a delay is often divine preparation.
Waiting is not wasted.
Stillness is not weakness.
Silence does not mean God is absent.
On that Holy Saturday, the disciples did not know what Sunday would bring. Their hopes seemed buried. Their faith felt tested. Yet Scripture tells us they rested.
Today, you may be living your own Holy Saturday—between heartbreak and healing, between surrender and restoration. Let this be a day to pause, breathe, and speak life-giving truth over your soul.
Say these aloud, write them in your journal, or whisper them during prayer. Let God’s Word be louder than your doubt.

Lord,
On this Holy Saturday, I choose to rest.
I release the urge to rush, to fix, or to know everything.
I sit in quiet confidence, knowing You are working even when I cannot see.
Resurrected life is coming.
But today, I will simply trust.
Amen.
Saturday was silent… but Sunday was certain.
So is your redemption. So is your breakthrough.
Let the stillness of today strengthen your spirit for the joy that is coming.
