This is the Time to Discover Your Dreams

life coaching Jan 16, 2020

Sometimes you feel like you have all the time in the world to realize your dreams. Yet there are daily reminders that our time on Earth is fleeting. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict how much time you have left, which is precisely why there is no time than now to make your dreams come true!

Concentrate On The Positive

It is vital to start off with positive thoughts. As you think positively about yourself and your dreams, you will begin to believe that you can accomplish anything. These early positive emotions can lead to a dedicated drive and enthusiasm that will help build lasting momentum.

Remember that nearly everyone feels overwhelmed when you are about to embark on a long journey. That is exactly why it is easy to fall into negative thinking patterns, but you must combat those ideas. It can be tough to imagine that so much can be achieved simply by having positive thoughts, but it is real!

The truth is, when you imagine something as startling as "I could die tomorrow," it is difficult not to be drawn into dread. But as an alternative to fretting about how much time you and your loved ones have left, focus on making the present moment as productive as it can be towards your true calling.

Careful Planning

Once you have decided to take action and battled your negative thoughts, it is time to create some practical plans to get you where you would like to be.

Keep these tips in mind while you go through your planning stage:

  1. Set realistic goals. If your plan is going to take years, give yourself years. You can not expect everything to happen overnight.

  1. Be specific. Include all the details in your plans. If you stumble along the way, you will be reassured knowing that you have your detailed plans to help you stay the course.

  1. Reward yourself. When you have made progress towards your goal, reward yourself. Even if your final goal is far off, it is fun and motivating to enjoy rewards as you complete steps toward your goal.

Action In Small Steps

One of the biggest tips for pursuing dreams is breaking down all of your activities into small, controllable steps.

For example, your goal may be to become a registered nurse, or you might like to start your own company. Both of these goals are substantial and have the potential to take years of work and training. But, both can be done. I know. I did both!

When you first think about these goals, it is easy to be nervous about how intimidating they seem. Instead of resorting to panic, try breaking down the goals into a dozen or even a hundred small steps. Chances are, those small steps are not nearly as overwhelming as the big picture.

At the same time, continually keep the big picture in mind. When you imagine yourself reaching your end goal, it can be an image that provides you the push to keep going during tough times.

Inspiring Other Women

Once you have accomplished your goal, think about inspiring other women to achieve their goals, too. Maybe you have a friend or family member who says, "I've always wanted to do that," but they remain working at their dead-end job.

Help them take action!

You will know from experience that, while it may be challenging, the reward is more than worth it.

Yes, going after your dreams is even a reward in itself! It gives you joy in the present and hope for the future. So carpe diem - seize the day!
